We currently require an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to train alongside the team of Sonographers in our busy Ultrasound department. The Ultrasound service is located within the Radiology Department at Bronglais General Hospital in Aberystwyth, Ceredigion.
The role is a training opportunity to work and study over a period of 2 years to achieve a Post graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound. Applicants must be a Registered Health Professional with a recognised Bachelor of Science Honours Degree, with an appropriate level of post graduate experience.
This post is advertised as a Band 7 and ideally candidates for this role must have achieved the Post graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound. However applicants who do not currently hold the qualification for the Band 7 role are encouraged to apply, and if successful, will need to attain the qualification within 2 years and will be appointed under the All Wales Annex 21 rules.
This means they will be supported by a development plan. (During the first year payment will be 70% of the top rate of band 7 pay, and the second year 75%). Following successful completion of the Post graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound the post holder will then be paid at Band 7 (minimum point on the scale). Support and supervision will be provided in order to develop the successful applicant to the Band 7 role. Failure to achieve the qualification and required competencies in the designated timeframe could result in re-deployment.
Main duties of the job
You must possess excellent communication skills, be tactful, diplomatic and able to work as part of a team. In addition to this applicants should be flexible and show a commitment to life long learning. And also demonstrate examples of increased responsibility and autonomous practice.
