Come and join our friendly lively team in Swanage Community Hospital for the opportunity to develop your skills, expand your knowledge and make a real difference in your patients lives and abilities.

The hospital has different departments with different patient groups, including Minor Injuries, Outpatients, Radiology Imaging and Day Surgery. This role is based on Stanley Purser Ward, which is a 15 bedded nurse led unit, with patient needs ranging from post-fracture rehabilitation, medical diagnoses and treatments through to palliative care, supported by local doctors 3 days per week and our ANP 5 days a week.

Our ward team has members from a variety of backgrounds and with varied interests and specialities, we support students and newly qualified nurses to achieve their potential and we are an inclusive active team with days out and a lively team chat group. The team working on the Stanley Purser Unit are amongst the kindest and most caring people in the NHStoday.

We would welcome applications from newly qualified nurses and we provide a very comprehensive and fully supported Preceptorship Programme for newly qualified healthcare professionals.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

Person Specification

Knowledge, Skills and Training

Essential

  • Registered practitioner to degree/diploma level
  • Membership of the relevant Professional Body
  • Learning and Assessing in Practice Qualification or equivalent practice assessors training
  • Evidence of recent professional development in an up to date portfolio
  • Knowledge and understanding of Trust Strategy relevant to role


Job Specific Experience

Essential

  • Supervised experience gained during clinical placements
  • Ability to mentor students / supervise other junior staff
  • Experience of contributing to the management of change
  • Demonstrable knowledge of assessment and therapeutic interventions in area of practice
  • Experience of developing programmes of care for an individual or groups of patients/clients and of providing advice


Desirable

  • Recent previous experience within a comparable role


Managerial / Supervisory Experience

  • Experience of demonstrating duties to junior staff
