The post holder will
  • Provide and maintain a high standard of care for patients attending the Airedale NHS Foundation Trust outpatient
  • Help develop Nurse led services
  • Provide high quality, evidence based, patient centred care using specific knowledge and skills
  • Provide team leadership and first line management to a team of nurses: coordinator role
  • Teach, assess, supervise and mentor new and junior staff and student


Main duties of the job

Clinical:
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care and be capable of carrying out all relevant care needs for patients specific to specialty
  • Work with Consultant workforce to establish Nurse Led clinic
  • Achieve, monitor and maintain set standards of nursing care ensuring safe practice and reporting if these fall below an acceptable standard

Team Leadership
  • Working closely with the management team in order to improve services to patients and relatives. This will include initiating and implementing agreed changes
  • Undertake the role of nurse in charge ensuring appropriate staff allocation
  • Managing the clinical areas and utilising resources appropriately
  • Lead the patient care, junior staff, equipment and instrumentation for the REU, using specific knowledge and skills
  • Lead the patient care in other areas when required to do so.
  • Provide first line management to a team of nurses and HCA
  • Undertake PDR's with junior staff, under the direction of senior colleagues
  • Teach, assess and supervise new and junior staff as well as trainee staff allocated to the unit
  • Produce reports and proposals as required by the Team Managers, nurse managers

Workforce:
  • The production of a safe staffing rot Be involved as required in advanced planning and crisis management of off duty rotas to maintain optimum staffing levels
  • Being involved in staff recruitment
  • Recording and monitoring sickness absence and attendance

Person Specification

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of NHS Constitution
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the NHS national targets and priorities
  • Robust understanding of the Quality Indicators and their effect on the department.
  • Awareness of governance & incident reporting


Desirable

  • Understanding of CQC standards and audit process.


Skill

Essential

  • Ability to recognize life and limb threatening conditions and manage effectively in all areas of the department.
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Excellent communication skills both written & verbal English.
  • Proven ability to organize workload and allocate resources accordingly.
  • Ability to manage stressful situations.

Qualifications

Essential

  • RN - NMC Level 1
  • Mentorship (formally ENB 998 or other teaching/mentor qualification)


Desirable

  • Degree in Nursing

  • Evidence of Mentorship
  • Significant Post Registration experience

  • Roster management
  • Recruitment experience
  • Appraisial training and undertaking PDR's
