Ribblesdale Ward requires forward thinking, dynamic band 5 Registered Nurses to support the ward in delivering safe, personal and effective care to our patients. This is an ideal ward to consolidate your patient assessment and nursing skills along with complex discharge planning.
Ribblesdale ward is a 32 bedded rehabilitation ward based within the heart of the picturesque Ribble Valley.

As Ribblesdale is a ward set within a community hospital acute clinical nursing skills are required to support the acutely unwell patient with the support from the out of hours GP service. therefore you will be encouraged and supported to attend this training and develop these skills. We offer training packages that can be tailored to your individual need - for example for the newly registered nurse we offer a full preceptorship package supported by both the ward and our education teams. For the more experienced nurse we offer leadership development and further clinical skills training and development.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work with the multi-disciplinary team in setting rehabilitation actions and goals with the patient to ensure successful outcomes are achieved.
The registered nurse will be responsible for ensuring the patient assessment takes place and that formulates an agreed plan with the patient. The Registered Nurse is responsible for ensuring direct care is provided to the patient and their needs are met within the ward. The ward works with the patient and family in ensuring the appropriate discharge pathway is identified and a successful discharge occurs.

We require motivated and hardworking registered nurses to support our expanding nursing team and provide support, healthcare and information to patients and their families working days and nights including bank holidays and the Christmas period. The successful applicant must be extremely confidential and professional when carrying out their duties due to the nature of the work.
The role of the registered nurse is that of an able and competent worker who can carry out a wide range of supervised and unsupervised care duties directly with the patient which will support the work of the multi disciplinary team
For the experienced registered nurse we offer them the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and knowledge. Supporting them with classroom based activities which will then be followed up in the workplace by allowing them the chance to coordinate and lead a shift and attending the daily MDT. Ribblesdale Ward believes in a full MDT approach to patient care and you will get the opportunity to work with all the members of the team ensuring that the patient receives the optimum care available.
You will be given the opportunity to expand your clinical skills and if required can attend the venepuncture and cannulation course, the care of the bereaved patient and mentorship. As a teaching ward you will also be responsible for passing on your knowledge and skills to student and cadet nurses, giving you the opportunity to educate and train our future nurses.
For the newly registered nurse we offer a full preceptorship course which is classroom based study days and then backed up with ward based practice. Preceptorship.
Being a band 5 registered nurse on Ribblesdale Ward is at times demanding, but on the whole is extremely rewarding.
