This is a full time post. The Anticoagulant Clinical Specialist takes a lead role in assessment and management of patients newly started on anticoagulation for venous thromboembolism, as well as managing / dosing warfarin patients, and providing expert advice to other clinicians. Maintaining and improving standards of care, and promoting a seamless service within a multi-professional framework, will be central to the role. This will be achieved through clinical practice, management, education and audit of professional activities. The primary duty of the post will be to work in nurse led anticoagulation clinics and to act as a clinical expert alongside a fellow Band 6 nurse providing support and keeping the Clinical Lead Consultant informed of any problems.
The role would suit a specialist nurse, pharmacist, or other healthcare professional with relevant experience.
Main duties of the job
The role will include coordinating, delivering and evaluating the Trust's Anticoagulant Service, working closely with the Anticoagulation Consultant Haematologists to run nurse-led clinics for patients on anticoagulation therapy.
