As a Registered Nurse you will be responsible for supporting your Manager in ensuring that our service users needs are met through the delivery of high-quality care.

As a centre of excellence, you will offer a person-centred approach to their independence and well-being you will be responsible for getting the service users ready for surgery.

You will have your own case load of work.

Main duties of the job

- You will work independently as well as part of a team.

- You will be responsible for your own case load of patients and the care that they are required in getting the group of patients ready for surgery in a timley manner.

- Maintain a high standard of clinical work when carrying out nursing procedures.

- Ensure compliance with our clinical governance framework, you will motivate colleagues, champion service user safety and dignity and drive continuous improvement.

Knowledge

Essential

• Sound clinical knowledge in all aspects of pre-operative assessment.
• Understands the concepts of clinical governance and shared governance including evidence based practice and critical appraisal of research findings.

Desirable

• Demonstrates knowledge of effective risk management.
• Knowledge of current NHS issues including performance targets and the wider modernisation agenda.

Experience

Essential

• Able to demonstrate appropriate clinical and managerial skills commensurate with the post

Desirable

• Demonstrable experience in Surgery/Pre-operative Assessment.

Professional Registration/PIN

Essential

Qualifications

Essential

• Registered Nurse. 1st level with current NMC Registration
• Degree level qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience at senior level.
• Professional and clinical competence.

Desirable

• Evidence of on-going professional development in a recognised and appropriate nursing field of practice.

Skills and Abilities

Essential

• Effective communicator and negotiator to all levels
• IT literate with good understanding of common packages.
• Demonstrate involvement in clinical supervision.
