Band 7 Ultrasonographer, (with R& R)

The West Middlesex University Hospital site is a flagship modern NHS hospital for West London. With a reputation for innovation and quality of care, the hospital is already a Beacon site for its work in modernisation.
The range of work would include early pregnancy, obstetrics, Nuchal Translucency scans, gynaecology, subfertility, transvaginal and Doppler ultrasound. Applicants must hold a Certificate in Medical Ultrasound (or equivalent qualification) and have experience in the fore-mentioned scanning techniques and scan to a very high standard.

Main duties of the job
To be an effective member of the Ultrasound team, providing a high qualityultrasound service to both Doctors and patients. To carry out and monitor allaspects of work in the Ultrasound Department and to provide an effectiveservice within the procedures and guidelines agreed with Consultants andDepartmental protocols.

Clinical Practice:
- To perform a wide range of obstetric, early pregnancy and gynaecological examinations and write reports appropriate to the examination on all patients seen within the department.
- To report all ultrasound examinations in accordance with the scheme of work and departmental protocols.
- To report, document and follow-up all cases for the FASP audit.
- To liaise with obstetricians and staff of the antenatal clinics and co-ordinate appointments.
- To clinically vet all obstetric and gynae ultrasound requests
- To undertake the day to day booking, filing and maintenance of patient records, both manual and
computer-based, as required. To strictly adhere to the data protection act.
Professional Leadership:
- To ensure that patients receive a high standard of care and have a positive experience.
- To act as a positive role model.
- To provide clinical support and advice for colleagues within the department and across the Directorate.
- To ensure that the rules and procedures of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 are strictly adhered to and that all working areas are kept clean and safe.
Organisational and Professional Development:
- To participate in the clinical training of clinicians undergoing the basic RCOG Module 2 in ultrasound scanning.
- To participate in CPD and take an active role in the weekly educational meetings and discussions.
- To ensure the safe and appropriate use of all the ultrasound machines and provide basic care in their maintenance. To report and record all equipment faults.
