Are you a band 7 or 8a Psychologist who is interested in working with us to evolve psychology in a Specialist Obesity Service? This Service recognises the value of their existing psychology provision and are investing significantly to develop psychology as a key part of their ambition to become a national Centre of Excellence.
Do you have ambition to work with a psychology network and within an experienced multidisciplinary team to embed 'fit for the future' applied psychology at a time when there is great potential to bring about change?
Main duties of the job
You will be working into Specialist Weight Management and Bariatric Surgery Services. The role will include 1:1 formulation-based consultation work, drawing on core principles of working with complexity, to support people who are accessing specialist weight management interventions. In addition, you will be developing and delivering group-based interventions and supporting the MDT to use psychological principles within their work. There is a wealth of opportunity for bringing innovation and creativity to the role through service development projects, establishing partnerships with external organisations and conducting research.
You will be employed by Surrey and Borders the main provider of psychology services into physical health. You will become part of a network of around 30 Psychologists working at the intersection of physical and psychological health who have a range of additional training and interests including: trauma informed care, systemic approaches, sports and exercise, CFT, ACT, neurodivergence and the widening participation in psychology agenda. The network provides opportunities for mentorship, supervision and professional development.

Qualifications
Essential
- HCPC registration (or expected to obtain this within 6 months)
- Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology qualification or equivalent.
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working with people from across the life span with a range of mental health issues and cognitive profiles.
- Experience across a range of psychological models including systemic, behavioural and individual therapeutic
Desirable
- Completion of an appropriate clinical supervision course to enable supervision of trainees (or completion within 12 months of commencement in post)
- Experience of supervising assistant and/or trainee clinical psychologists
Band 8a (in addition to band 7 responsibilities)
Essential
- Experience of supervising assistant and trainee clinical psychologists
- Demonstrable post registration/clinical experience and competency relevant to this care group.
- Experience of contributing to clinical practice/service development/project work.
