An exciting opportunity has become available for a B7 in our friendly and experienced pelvic health physiotherapy team.

This is a Team Lead role with both clinical and operational management of the service alongside a mixed outpatient and inpatient clinical caseload. The role will predominantly be based at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, but may involve cross-site working.

The team accepts referrals from consultants and GPs and we're looking for someone with experience in managing patients with obstetric, bladder and bowel conditions and sexual dysfunction. Experience in men's health is also essential and experience in trans health and paediatric incontinence is an advantage.

The post offers opportunity to develop clinical skills and experience, and operational service management. You will be well supported by an experienced and passionate clinical lead and the team is committed to education and training sessions to support personal development.

Main duties of the job

-Deliver outpatient and inpatient treatment plans as required

-Manage a varied outpatient caseload providing assessment and management

-Use evidence-based practice, current guidelines and expert clinical reasoning to devise and implement treatment plans for patients

-Educate the MDT on pelvic health physiotherapy intervention and raise the profile of therapies

-Devise and deliver educational training programmes suitable for audience

-Operational management of team alongside clinical lead

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • To work as an autonomous practitioner to provide physiotherapy assessment and treatment to a varied caseload, predominately in the outpatient setting
  • To use evidence based practice, current guidelines and expert clinical reasoning to devise and implement appropriate treatment plans for patients, which may be highly complex in nature.
  • To review and deliver treatment plans for inpatients, as required.
  • To engage in regular supervision with the clinical team lead.
  • To support with clinical problem-solving and provide managerial expertise for more junior clinicians within the team.
  • To participate in CPD and other developmental activities and encourage all members of your team to do likewise.
  • To educate the multi-disciplinary team in the trust on elements of therapy in your designated clinical area, and raise the profile of the therapy service.
  • To work closely with the other members of the multi-disciplinary team and demonstrate excellent communication skills.
  • To ensure that the therapy service in the designated clinical area is responsive to user requirements within the available resources and in accordance with directorate and departmental plans.
  • To assist in the teaching and clinical supervision of students and more junior therapy staff, and to take an active role in multi-disciplinary teaching sessions within the pelvic health service.


Person Specification

Education

Essential

  • BSc or Diploma in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registration
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD


Desirable

  • Member of CSP and special interest group
  • Evidence of relevant postgraduate education and/or qualifications


Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of experience as a Band 6 therapist (or equivalent) in pelvic health
  • Experience of working as part of an MDT
  • Evidence of appraisal and supervision of junior members of staff and students
  • Experience of obstetrics, bladder and bowel and sexual dysfunction conditions
  • Experience of mens health


Desirable

  • Evidence of experience as a Band 7 therapist (or equivalent) in pelvic health
  • Evidence of involvement in service development
  • Experience of outpatient diary management
  • Experience in trans health


Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Demonstrates specialist knowledge of pelvic health assessment and treatment interventions
  • Demonstrates advanced clinical reasoning skills
  • Able to work independently and monitor workload of team


Desirable

  • Evidence of participation in research or audit
  • Evidence of QI or service development
