This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to join the new Faculty of Education, Nursing, Midwifery and AHP.
As a Clinical Educator, you will support the quality of the clinical learning environment for non-medical learners i.e. Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals by providing support, educational input and development activities for supervisors, assessors and learners within pre-registration health science programmes. You will encourage the development of a learning culture where both education and lifelong learning are seen as integral to clinical practice and will positively contribute to the development of a workforce fit for purpose.
This secondment opportunity will be working within the undergraduate team supporting pre-registration nurses and supporting the launch of the QEH/ARU Satellite site.
Main duties of the job
As a clinical educator you will be expected to:
Have a passion for education and knowledge of healthcare science and allied health professional education pathways.
Model high professional standards of care and promote a culture of learning, to provide professional and clinical practice training.
Be a visible practice presence in the clinical learning environments within clinical support services providing support to learners to enable them to achieve their learning objectives.
Provide support to those assessing and supervising students/ learners on a range of programmes.
Assist supervisors, assessors, practice educators and departmental managers to facilitate the integration of theory and practice within the clinical environment for a variety of learners.
Maintain accurate records of training, assessment and support provided, and provide reports as requested.
Deliver a robust induction to learners who are commencing placements.
Assist staff with access to supervisor and educator training
Deliver teaching sessions on a variety of clinical programmes including learner forums, simulation sessions and PrePARE programme.
Support the establishment and maintenance of a portfolio of high quality practice placements that's support the learning needs of learners.
Support trust wide clinical training needs
Provide opportunities for professional development

- Registered Nurse on the appropriate part of the NMC register or clinical professional registered with the HCPC
- Supervisor and assessor training or equivalent
- Degree in relevant field
- To undertake Postgraduate certificate in education or equivalent
Experience

- Significant post registration experience, some of which can be at senior band 5 or band 6 in an acute hospital setting
- Significant and recent experience of supporting and assessing pre-registration/ apprentice learners in an acute setting with students in an acute setting
Skills, abilities, and knowledge

- Confident and calm attitude with an ability to work under pressure
Desirable
- Advanced Microsoft Office Skill (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
