An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Physiotherapist with an interest in Parkinson's disease. This is a brand new post at York & Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the successful applicant will be instrumental in the setting up and development of this acute based service for people with Parkinson's in Elderly Medicine at Scarborough Hospital

The position is 37.5 hours per week, working supporting patients in maintaining their independence, keeping them out of hospital and remain in their own homes.

We're a supportive team with opportunities to work with colleagues across a number of specialties.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Physiotherapist who has experience and is keen to develop their skills in the areas of Neurological Physiotherapy, with a special interest in Parkinson's Disease.

You will support the Parkinson's team in Elderly Medicine in the planning, development and evaluation of Parkinson's Disease services at York & Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, working closely with colleagues within specialist MDT to implement innovative patient pathways and evidence-based clinical care.

We are looking for an individual who is an excellent communicator with a flexible approach, and an eagerness to establish links with community partners, sharing clinical expertise with therapy colleagues and the wider MDT.

The post will be based across inpatient, outpatient services at Scarborough Hospital. You will have robust clinical and managerial supervision and training provided to support you in role, whilst also undertaking support and supervision of junior staff and students. You will work very closely with the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist for Parkinson's based at the York Hospital Site.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • HCPC Registered Physiotherapist
  • Degree in Physiotherapy
  • Evidence of relevant structured CPD activities Post graduate qualification relevant to role and clinical specialty.
  • Evidence of significant post graduate training within Neurology / Parkinson's Disease.


Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • Experience in specialist role, including the management of a range of specialist conditions, with substantial evidence of additional knowledge acquired through formal and informal clinical supervision
  • Evidence of ability to lead and act as an authority on the management of complex clinical presentations in specialist area
  • Substantial experience of assessment and provision of specialist equipment
  • Significant experience of delivering clinical treatment within specialist area
  • In-depth understanding of current issues in health care Standards of Professional Practice
  • Experience of leading engagement activities with others and understanding of the importance of good communication when implementing change


Desirable

  • Masters level study within relevant area of practice or research and evidence-based practice.
  • Experienced in the identification and use of outcome measures to evaluate clinical treatment
  • Evidence of progression through career pathway or framework
  • Highly experienced in the identification and use of outcome measures to evaluate clinical treatment
  • Highly developed specialist clinical skills within relevant area
  • Significant experience of training/supporting others (including students) within specialist clinical area
  • Evidence of having led the delivery of relevant audit/research projects Evidence of progression through career pathway or framework
