An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Dietician to work as part of North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare's well established Children and Young people's Eating Disorder team working full time Monday to Friday.
You will be HPCP registered and have experience of working with children and young people or of working with people who experience eating disorders.
The role will include working as part of the multi-disciplinary team, supporting the delivery of the Family Based Treatment approach, undertaking initial assessments and providing nutritional and dietetics assessment and intervention to children/young people and their families who are receiving support from the team and to develop the knowledge and skills of others through education, training and providing expert advice and support.
Our CYP eating disorder team seeks to provide a high quality service to ensure that clients receive their care by the right person in the right place at the right time, supported by NICE guidance. Enhancing education, prevention, early intervention and strengthened pathways.
The Trust offers Continuing Professional Development (CPD) which is tailored to meet the professional development needs of individual practitioners.
Main duties of the job
To provide a highly specialist dietetic service to CYP Eating disorder patients receiving treatment from the Trust's Eating Disorder Service (EDS). To provide a dietetic clinical lead role for those YP suffering with an eating disorder who are treated by the EDS.
To act as a source of expertise on the dietary management of eating disorders to medical staff, therapy staff, other health professionals, GPs, external agencies such as local community mental health teams and the dietetic department.
To make recommendations for the purchasing of supplements, food provided on the ward and equipment within the budget held by the Team Manager.
Providing clinical supervision for clinical staff and students within the Eating Disorders Service and clinical supervision for agreed clinical staff (eg dietitians) outside the team, where appropriate.

This involves working with young people and their families and MDT members to identify and address the complex psychological and social factors that affect compliance with dietary treatment, thus enabling long term / permanent lifestyle changes.
To provide specialist advice to patients and their parents/carers with eating disorders deemed to be a high physical risk.
To undertake comprehensive assessments of each patients diet and lifestyle to formulate individualised management and treatment plans ensuring optimal outcome whilst minimising risk. The assessments include interpreting biochemical data and using quantitative / qualitative analysis of nutritional information.

- o4 year degree in Nutrition and Dietetic or equivalent
- oDemonstrates a level of knowledge of the Maudsley model for treatment of YP presenting with eating disorders.
- oComprehensive understanding of the bio-psycho-social causes, effects and maintaining factors of eating disorders
