We have fantastic opportunities for a band 5 Nurse to join our team within the Community Women's Health Service based at Mile End Hospital. The service provides care, support and advice to women seeking termination of pregnancy, contraception, sexual health screening, those experiencing the Menopause, as well as advice and support regarding Female Genital Mutilation.

We are looking for motivated and dynamic nurses who wish to pursue an exciting career in sexual and reproductive healthcare.

Perhaps you are an experienced nurse working in another speciality and want a change of direction, or an experienced sexual health nurse wanting to further your career? Alternatively, you may be relatively newly qualified and have a passion for the speciality? Whichever applies, we want to hear from you!

Main duties of the job

The Registered Nurse post will provide training, enabling the Nurse to provide care for patients requiring termination of pregnancy, contraceptive and other Woment's Health needs. The post holder will assist with medical and non-medical terminations of pregnancy, administer prescribed medications, provide chaperonin

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • NMC Registered Adult Nurse (Level 1)
  • Educated to 1st degree level


Desirable

  • Teaching Qualification
  • Sexual health and/ or contraception experience
  • Sexual health and/ or contraception qualification


Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of working with staff from different professional disciplines
  • Evidence of utilising evidence-based practice.
  • Evidence of practice development
  • Evidence of local resolution of conflict/ complaints


Desirable

  • Experience of providing care and treatment to patients with gynaecological, termination of pregnancy, sexual health or contraceptive health care needs
  • General post registration experience and current integrated sexual health experience required
  • Evidence of supporting and taking part in Clinical Supervision


Knowledge

Essential

  • Demonstrates an understanding of relevant issues in termination of pregnancy, Women's Health, sexual health and contraceptive services.


Desirable

  • Able to discuss pertinent issues regarding higher level nursing practice
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the concept of clinical and shared governance.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of quality improvement strategies.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of patient group directions and integrated care pathways
