Following a review of the Health Boards Operational Structure, we have two exciting Assistant Directors of Nursing, Patient Safety, Quality and Experience Positions within our new Clinical Care Group structure. Please state within your supporting statement which post you would be applying for:
The post holder will assist the Director of Nursing, Quality & Patient Experience with the corporate agenda for Nursing and support the Clinical Care Group Service Director in leading the Clinical Care Group.
Main duties of the job
As a Nursing and Midwifery Council registrant, you will provide professional and strategic leadership to Nurses and Health Care Support Workers within the Clinical Care Group, enabling high quality patient centred services to be delivered to those who access services across the Health Board.
The successful candidate will have responsibility for a range of areas including quality, patient safety and implementation of Health Board agenda for continuous improvement. They will be key in contributing to the development of Nursing across the organisation, ensuring standards of practice are consistent.
You will have highly developed leadership and influencing skills with the ability to enthuse, motivate and involve individuals and teams, whilst demonstrating the organisation values and behaviours.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 12,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services to almost 400,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:
Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest.
Five community hospitals: Amman Valley Hospital and Llandovery Hospital in Carmarthenshire, Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire.
Two integrated care centres (Aberaeron and Cardigan, Ceredigion).
Community facilities, including:
48 General Practices (GP surgeries), 49 Dental Practices, 98 Community Pharmacies (chemists), 44 General Ophthalmic Practices (including eye health and low vision services), 38 sites providing mental health and learning disability services, care within your own homes
Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

- Registered Nurse.
- Masters degree in healthcare or management or demonstrable ability to work at this level and/or equivalent senior management experience
- Evidence of continuous professional development to further postgraduate level.
- Extensive knowledge over a range of disciplines e.g. Clinical, research, HR, Finance, Governance, underpinned by specialist courses or equivalent experience.
- Extensive knowledge of relative legislation and associated codes of practice
- In depth professional specialist knowledge of a number of disciplines acquired through training and experience over a significant period
