We are looking to welcome you! - an experienced Occupational Therapist with knowledge and understanding of working with individuals during a mental health crisis. Working with service-users at a vulnerable time, we are looking for someone who is committed to making a positive difference in their lives.

Crisis Assessment and Treatment Teams (CATT) are an integrated, multi-disciplinary, community based teams offering initial assessments for service users referred to secondary mental health services. CATT offer pathway planning, brief interventions (up to 12 weeks) and crisis intervention in the community which could include intensive, short-term home based treatment where it is appropriately indicated. The team is responsible for gate keeping all inpatient admissions into West London's Acute Adult Mental Health Services, facilitating early discharge for the inpatient wards and community recovery house.

The post holder will work as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team with the opportunity to grow and develop the Occupational Therapy role as a Senior Occupational Therapist. The Occupational Therapists are part of a wider occupational therapy team within West London NHS Trust and are given the opportunity to link in and network with peers through AHP Forum's and regular training and events.

Main duties of the job

To provide a client-centred occupational therapy service to a defined caseload of service users with complex needs, within the local services working with multi-disciplinary team members and the occupational therapy team.

To actively develop and implement a framework of care, which reflects a holistic approach to service user needs, and the seven pillars of clinical governance.

To use evidence-based principles to apply clinical skills and reasoning in occupational therapy, assessment, treatment planning, intervention and evaluation which include individual and group orientated approaches.

To be a resource for the team, providing, occupational therapy professional guidance, and to lead on the evaluation and continued development of the occupational therapy service

To provide leadership and taking responsibility for the direct supervision for less clinically experienced staff, support staff and students including conducting Performance Development Review (PDR) as appropriate.

Essential

  • BSc (Hons) or equivalent Occupational Therapy qualification
  • HCPC Registration


Experience

Essential

  • Achieved Band 5 OT KSF sub-set (usually through 12 month preceptorship programme)
  • Achieved full KSF outline for Band 5 OT (usually second year post qualified) Relevant post-qualified OT experience in Mental Health
  • Application of core OT skills and OT process


Desirable

  • Experience of supervision of students and staff
  • A minimum of two and a half years post qualified experience as an OT (or equivalent role) in a health or social care or 3rd sector setting


Knowledge

Essential

  • Organisational ability
  • Ability to build rapport with service users, carers and colleagues
  • Evidence of ability in OT assessment, treatment planning, intervention and evaluation
  • Ability to work independently and under supervision as part of a team
