Full time - 37.5 hours - Permanent (Part time hours considered)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a newly qualified Band 5 Dietitian who wishes to develop their skills and knowledge and has an interest in the wide range of clinical conditions that community/acute dietetics will present.

The post would also suit individuals wanting to work both in Community and Acute settings including Paediatrics. We are offering full training, support and preceptorship to consolidate your skills following qualification.

The post would be based at the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven covering Acute wards as well as community hospitals and GP practices across West Cumbria.

Whitehaven is situated in one of the most attractive parts of the country, with the Lakes, the Pennines, the Borders and South East Scotland all easily accessible.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic Dietitian with excellent communication and team working skills. In addition to clinical work, you would be expected to input into appropriate community MDT's and provide nutritional education to care homes, patient support groups and health care professionals.

You will join an established team of Acute, Community and Paediatric dietitians and Dietetic Assistants.

There is access to 1:1 practice and clinical supervision. Professional development is given a high priority and there are ongoing educational opportunities as well as regular group practice supervision. The department trains student dietitians on P1, P2 and P3 placements from Chester University, UCLan and from 2023 Newcastle University. Students currently rate NCIC placements as 4*.

IT and secretarial support is available. We are currently involved in exciting digital projects including the move to a single electronic patient record and electronic prescribing.

The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post:

Standard Check: £18 + Administration cost of £3.85 = £21.85. Deducted at £6.85 from 1st month salary and £5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Enhanced Check: £38 + administration cost of £3.90 = £41.90. Deducted at £11.90 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.
