We are looking for experienced nurses or practitioners with an interest in CAMHS Crisis intervention to join the Camden Adolescent Intensive Support Service (CAISS).
Main duties of the job
What do CAISS team do?
We work with young people aged 12-18 experiencing a mental health crisis living in the Borough of Camden.
A young person accessing CAISS may experience some, if not all of the below:
o Experiencing an acute mental health crisis, or be chronically high risk of harm to themselves or others due their behaviours.
o At risk of a Tier 4 admission without intensive support.
o A history of or currently experiencing an inpatient admission.
o Challenges in engaging with other services.
o Several predisposing and/or precipitating risk factors present in their life.
o Require support with multiple aspects of their life (e.g. school, mental health, familial relationships, substance use etc) and therefore need a flexible, holistic approach.
We use a variety of therapeutic approaches in CAISS and have the capacity to see young people up to 5 times per week if needed. The work we do is often informed by elements of CBT, DBT, systemic psychotherapy, care coordination, nursing models, psychiatry and trauma-informed approaches.
We work closely with the wider CAMHS teams to support young people into long-term treatment and build support networks amongst Camden's strong community & voluntary sector, schools and local authority.
About us
What to expect?
I really enjoy working in CAISS because my job is so varied. I might meet a young person in a coffee shop to work through an exposure-based intervention for their social anxiety or see a young person and their parents together in the clinic to develop a safety plan to help them manage their suicidal thoughts.
Working with the levels of complexity that we do, I really value the support of the team - be it informal debriefs or formal spaces such as the weekly clinical team meeting, monthly formulation meeting, and monthly team trainings.
Natalie, CAISS Clinical Nurse Specialist
Why join us?The benefits of working in our community CAMHS CAISS team include:
A nurse-led multidisciplinary team that strives for a flattened hierarchy and values everyone's contributions.
Our needs-led approach allows for creativity, curiosity and flexibility throughout your clinical work with young people and their families and you will be supported to further develop your evidence-based practice.
We offer a comprehensive induction programme when you start working with us to ensure you are fully supported to settle into your new role.
