We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated Band 6 Junior Sister/ Charge nurse to join our team on Ward East 2B on a permanent basis. Ward East 2B at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital is a 24 bedded ward, specialising in looking after older acute patients living with frailty and other comorbidities.
As a Junior Sister/ Charge Nurse you will be expected to support the management structure to provide a consistently high standard of nursing practice with particular emphasis on quality and clinical standards. We are looking for a nurse with the skills to thrive within a friendly environment with the ability to cope under pressure, who is keen to pursue a leadership role. The role will include days, nights and weekend working where you would deputise for the ward manager and take charge of the ward.

Main duties of the job
To work as the deputy to the Ward/Department Manager in the coordination of all ward activities. In the absence of the Ward/Department Manager ensure the delivery of a quality service through leadership and efficient deployment of available resources
To assist the ward manager in the smooth running of the ward in her absence
To help deal with complaints in the ward mangers absence.
To supervise junior staff on duty
To take charge of a shift
To ensure Trust standards of care are maintained
To participate in staff sickness and absence procedures, off duty and HR issues that may arise.

- *Registered Adult Nurse on the NMC register
Experience

- *Substantial post registration experience working in a complex health care setting / Acute NHS care setting supervising / mentoring junior staff
- *Evidence of professional /clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical and or managerial training and CPD
- *Can demonstrate understanding / experience / willingness to be a practice based supervisor / assessor as detailed in the Nursing & Midwifery Council ( NMC ) standards for student supervision and assessment
- *Professional portfolio which demonstrates continuing professional development, evidence of ability to maintain professional registration
- *Relevant and recent clinical experience within the speciality /acute care setting, including the supervision /education of junior staff
- *Experience of mentoring undergraduate students
- *Evidence of ability to lead /coordinate a shift /area of department
- *Experience in learning from incidents /complaints and supporting changes in practice.
