This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Band 6 children and young people's nurse with an interest in paediatric obesity and endocrinology, to apply for the post of maternity leave cover(12 months fixed term/ secondment) for Paediatric Endocrine Specialist Practitioner and join a recently commissioned team of MDT professionals as part of a regional service for the complications of excess weight (CEW).
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to provide clinical expertise and knowledge, demonstrating a sound understanding of the issues related to the identification, assessment, treatment and management of children and young people with childhood obesity and complications of excess weight (the client group). S/he will monitor and improve standards of care through, supervision of practice, clinical audit, evidence-based practice, teaching and supporting professional colleagues and the provision of skilled professional leadership. S/he will actively contribute to the clinical governance processes within the service. This will include undertaking Nurse led clinics. Co ordinate responsibilities within the MDT. Provide excellent clinical support to wards and departments caring for children and young people who are under the CEW service. Involvement in research . Non Medical Prescribing qualification (NMP) or working towards it.
