We are looking for an enthusiastic electrical/electronic Technician to join our High Dependency 1 (HD1) section of Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering Department. The work will be providing specialist technical support to Heart and Lung Centre specialties of the HD1 service.
A car and a full UK driving license are essential to the duties of the post, as role is required to travel to other site including Cannock Chase Hospital.
Having previous experience on medical device maintenance would be beneficial however candidates with transferable skills could still be considered on an Annex 21 training program if there are no suitable qualified/experienced candidates.As a minimum, candidates should have a B-TEC/HNC, degree or equivalent in electrical / electronic engineering.
The service will be provided over five days per week and the post holder will be expected to demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to negotiate appropriate flexible working hours. There may be a requirement to work some unsocial hours, as part of the work may need to be performed outside normal working hours. The recruitment process following shortlisting, will comprise of an interview and a practical test.
Candidates will be required to attend a face to face interview and the practical assessment on site, no remote interviews will be considered.
Main duties of the job
The Clinical Technologist will be based in the Heart & Lung Centre providing specialist technical support to all areas of the Centre. He/she will have technical responsibility for the broad range of work required by the service. He / She will be expected to work to an extremely competent and high standard of safety for patients and staff requiring a high level of skill and knowledge. A high level of knowledge and understanding of IT systems and network infrastructure will be required as well as full understanding of software applications used within the Trust for administrative duties and the service/calibration of Medical devices. The Clinical Technologist, working in close proximity to patients, will provide the necessary support to the Section Head and other MPCE Clinical Technologists where advanced state of the art technology and complex techniques are being used. He/she will be expected to optimise these services, and will ensure that the high skill levels required are deployed in a cost-effective manner. He/she will be required to advise on non-routine specialised treatments e.g. haemofiltration . He/she will help support the specialised clinical information systems/technologies utilised throughout the centre.
