We are looking for an exceptional nurse with strong leadership skills to work alongside a senior Matron in our friendly, supportive Urgent and Emergency Care Clinical delivery group (CDG), covering the Emergency Department and the Emergency assessment units, based at Colchester Hospital.

The role will be predominately Monday to Friday although you will be expected to take part in the Quality Matron role at the weekend to support adherence to Safe care, supporting the nursing workforce and ensuring our patients have a positive experience.

Our Urgent and Emergency CDG's ambition is to enhance our emergency pathways, provide safe care, to improve waiting times and patient experience. The Urgent and Emergency areas include an Emergency Dept, AECU, Emergency Assessment Unit and a Same day Emergency care unit (AMSDEC).

Main duties of the job

Along with being part of a dynamic team providing clinical and professional leadership to an established workforce, our successful candidate will have the opportunity to design clinical pathways, take a lead in workforce planning and develop their own career with continuing education and development opportunities. Qualifications

Essential

• Evidence of academic pathway equivalent to Degree in Nursing or Health Related study
• Masters Degree in relation to health management or equivalent experience
• Demonstration and evidence of personal professional development
• Professional nursing qualification

Desirable

• Management Leadership Qualification, which has been tested in a management post

Experience

Essential

• Proven experience at senior nurse level and proven recent experience as Band 7 or above in an acute setting
• Current health policy and its impact on the management and development of acute health services
• A proven record of success in managing significant operational change while also developing and maintaining high standards of care
• Providing advice to specialist and non-specialist staff
• Experience of effective budgetary management

Desirable

• Experience of leading strategic/cross Trust changes
• Leadership Facilitator

Knowledge

Essential

• Proven ability to lead teams effectively, exercising sound judgement
