Bradford District Care Trust has an exciting opportunity to join the trust as a mental health practitioner within Children Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). We are looking to recruit experienced band 6 practitioners (nurses, social workers, occupational therapists) into CAMHS.

Assessments / Risk Assessments / Interventions / Autonomous working

The role will consist of completing assessments of mental heath need. Assessments can cover a variety of presentations and take place in different settings. Assessments will be delivered in a clinic setting as well as within the community. There is a need for assessments to take place in ward settings to support young people back into the community.

Main duties of the job

To contribute to the development and provision of services to children and young people with complex mental health needs. This will include assessing, planning and delivering care packages both within groups and also individually and working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Job Overview Continued-

As a mental health practitioner, you will need to be able to assess risk and use this to inform decision making for children and young people. We support children and young people with moderate to severe mental health presentations in the community. We work with risk in the community to prevent hospital admission where possible and manage crisis when needed.

Within CAMHS mental health practitioners deliver a range of therapeutic interventions to children and young people. Therapeutic interventions are offered to support acute presentations where risk has increased as well as more enduring moderate to severe presentations. We also provide accessible assessments and interventions to children and young people with learning disabilities.

Mental health practitioners within CAMHS work agilely across the district and have access to two main bases Fieldhead in Bradford and Hillbrook in Keighley. As a CAMHS team we work district wide and where needed support children and young people in hospital settings to return to the community. CAMHS is a continually developing service and plans are I place for services to be offered over seven days and between eight am and eight pm, this will consist of some shift work.

You will be working in a community based multi-disciplinary team delivering a service to children in a rich and diverse community, young people and their families in a supportive and lively team, where different professions are respected and valued. You will have the opportunity to play a significant role in the leadership delivery of a modernised and comprehensive service.

Essential

  • Occupational therapist orSocial worker or Registered Mental Health Nurse (All must hold a current registration)

  • Therapeutic training in appropriate modality - CBT / DBT

  • 2 years Post qualification experience within a mental health setting
