We have an exciting opportunity in Geriatrics & Frailty Division care of the elderly wards at King George site at BHRUT Hospitals. We are looking to recruit a Band 6 to join our existing highly motivated team on at KGH Site. These unit/wards are based at our King George Hospital Site. Care of the Elderly is currently going through a process of change to ensure we meet the on-going needs of our patients and to provide an excellent standard of care every time every day. This is an ideal opportunity for you to bring your experiences and visions to help us to deliver these changes. We are looking for an enthusiastic nurse with a passion for delivering high quality care, training to our staff in partnership with patients and their relatives putting the patients at the centre of our PRIDE values and responsibility for this area of nursing and maintaining high standard of care and training. To provide professional leadership, support and advice to the nursing workforce within the Care wards at KGH site and drive developments in nursing practice, to improve patient care and experience. The role will facilitate education, and training for registered and non-registered nursing staff as well as act as a role model, and to provide educational and training support in the clinical area for all aspects of nursing. This will require the post holder to work 90% clinical and 10% non-clinical shifts.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be willing to deliver education and training in relation to core skills as identified by BEST with support from the PDN to support changes in nursing practice based on evidence, research, audit findings and best practice, which improve and impact positively on patient outcomes and key performance indicators.
Be a principle driver in the teaching and progress of projects identified from national initiatives and the Trust's Nursing & Midwifery & Quality Strategies
To provide support to the Senior Sister in effectively leading and managing the ward
Participate in all ward activities as an effective team member, supporting the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse taking the responsibility for the leadership of a team of staff.
To assess care needs, and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
To teach and supervise qualified and unqualified staff, and act as a role model to junior staff, undertaking performance management is required.
