The CYP Eating Disorders Team is a multi-award winning, recovery focused, multidisciplinary community team. Alongside our community team, we are currently developing an intensive day service which is intended to reduce admissions and support young people and their families in the community by way of providing evidence based treatment via daily timetable of therapeutic input and meal supports.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and committed Advanced Practitioner in Eating Disorders. The successful candidate will have a professional qualification in Nursing and extensive knowledge and experience of providing evidence based treatment for eating disorders in a CYP MDT environment.

The successful candidate will work as an influential and integral member of a diverse multi-disciplinary team offering specialist assessment and treatment for young people and their families suffering with an eating disorder. This post involves clinical work, supporting team members with their clinical practice including a supervisory role and some clinical and management responsibilities to support the team Operational Manager and Clinical Nurse Lead.

You will be able to demonstrate clinical knowledge and interest in the area of eating disorders, and will have experience of working with this client group.

You will receive regular supervision and support and will be actively encouraged to participate in continuing professional development and be involved in service development.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team providing a high standard of service to children and adolescents with an eating disorder and their families/carers.
  • The post-holder will work within professional guidelines and under the clinical/professional supervision of senior clinicians of own core profession
  • The post-holder will provide clinical/professional supervision.
  • The post-holder will contribute to & undertake research, audit and evaluation for service development as required
  • The post holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development/implementation of care plans to meet the needs of children and young people with Eating Disorders.
  • The post holder will provide direct clinical interventions to children and young people.
  • The post holder will work collaboratively with service users, Pediatricians, medical and nursing staff, dieticians, parents and carers, social care, education staff and other relevant providers.
  • The post holder will work closely with Tier 3 and Tier 4 services across the Specialist Enhanced Pathway including the community Eating Disorder Team, Intensive Day Service, inpatient units, DBT Team & Home Treatment Team


Person Specification

Qualification/Skills/Experienc

Essential

  • Relevant Professional Qualification & Registration with appropriate professional body
  • Evidence of post registration training in child and adolescent mental health
  • Nursing experience with young people with eating disorders
  • Extensive post qualification experience in child and adolescent mental health
  • Qualification & experience in Clinical Supervision


Desirable

  • Evidence of managerial & Leadership Skills


Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • Skills in assessments, risk assessments and care planning
  • Detailed knowledge of evidence based practice & it's contribution to practice governance
  • Extensive clinical experience and ability to demonstrate application of advanced clinical skills
  • Evidence of CPD and commitment to lifelong learning
  • In-depth knowledge of current best practice in Eating Disorders and Mental Health


Desirable

  • Knowledge of menu planning and nutritional interventions in Eating Disorders
