An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the acute respiratory and rehabilitation teams as a rehabilitation physiotherapist covering both critical care and the acute wards.
You will be joining a small, established, multidisciplinary team, involved in starting crucial early rehabilitation with patients with a range of conditions within critical care and following them on their journey to the wards.
You will also be responsible for leading on discharge, which can be complex at times, and liaising with both the ward and critical care teams. You will also be involved in the management and leadership of the acute physiotherapy team and will treat non-critical care patients on the wards, as well as participating in the delivering of on call training.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide a comprehensive physiotherapy service to patients within critical care and follow them on their journey to the ward. They will see a wide range of conditions including complex, multi-pathologies from paediatrics, medicine and surgery. They will also be responsible for the training of band 5 staff to work oncall. They will build on existing physiotherapy skills and consolidate specialist skills in respiratory and rehabilitation required to manage this often complex patient group, supporting them with the transition between critical care and ward based care. The will also work within the rehabilitation team seeing non critical care patients. The post holder will work approximately 50% or their time within the respiratory team, and 50% within the acute rehabilitation team.
