Band 7 Critical Care Outreach Sister, up to 36 hours per week, West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven.
A fantastic opportunity has arisen within the Adult Critical Care Outreach Team at North Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, based at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle & West Cumberland Hospital Whitehaven.
The Critical Care Outreach Team provides a diverse and comprehensive CCOT service to all adult patients within NCIC which includes specialties such as Cardiology, ENT, Orthopaedics, Vascular and Renal, as well as general medicine and surgery.
We expect to recruit a positive, forward thinking individual who is motivated, can motivate others and manage the needs of the service, with experience at band 6 level or above. CCOT is a friendly and forward thinking team committed to pursuing excellence in both clinical, teaching and audit settings.
Main duties of the job
The Critical Care Outreach Team (CCOT) at NCIC consists of highly experienced and skilled Band 7 nurses who provide ward based advanced clinical assessments, patient interventions and develop management plans with the goal to halt or reverse clinical deterioration of the critically ill patient or ensure patients have rapid access and transfer to the Critical Care environment ensuring improved outcomes and patient experience.
CCOT activity has increased year on year with nursing and medical staff requiring reliable access to highly experienced staff able to provide support, education, clinical expertise and timely interventions in the management of the sick or deteriorating patient.
The post holder will be required to demonstrate advanced clinical assessment skills and develop extensive knowledge of common clinical situations encountered within the range of specialties across the trust. In addition you must have the ability to prioritise workloads, provide both formal and informal teaching to staff at all levels, to undertake audit and present findings as required and contribute to the ongoing development of the service.
