The Specialist Perinatal Service is a passionate, dynamic, and committed service who is looking to offer a dynamic Band 7 to cover a full-time secondment 37.5hrs a week. The successful candidate will be working in the Sutton & Merton sub-team.

This is an exciting time to join the perinatal service which is planning to expand services to work with birthing people and their partners with young children up to 2 years old. Although it would be an advantage, you do not need previous experience of working in perinatal mental health, as training and development is something we pride ourselves on with plenty of opportunities for team members to build on their skills and knowledge.

We are dedicated to high quality, evidence-based practice.

The secondment offers a great opportunity for a Band 7 Nurse to develop and expand their skills within a highly specialist area of work.

Main duties of the job

  • To contribute to the Perinatal model for assessment and treatment within the Perinatal Mental Health Community Services Team (the Perinatal Team) - working as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, providing individual, group and family work to clients where appropriate.
  • To contribute to the further development of the Perinatal Team, working in collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team, including supporting the development of a Perinatal Training Programme
  • To liaise and work with other agencies in the relevant borough and other Trust services involved in the provision of care to the client group.

  • The Perinatal Community Mental Health service is a specialist secondary care multidisciplinary team comprising psychiatry, psychological therapies, OT, specialist nursing and nursery nursing, social work, and peer support. We are a diverse and experienced group of mental health professionals with a passion for delivering excellence in perinatal care.

The service operates across 3 sub teams, (Wandsworth, Kingston & Richmond, Sutton & Merton) who come together weekly for meetings and case discussions. We also meet as a whole service on a regular basis.

We offer reflective practice and complex case discussions and hold a regular team business meeting to ensure smooth operation and involvement from all disciplines in developing our vision and strategy for service development.
