The ideal candidate will already have acquired an ASD in breast dissection, however we would welcome applications from candidates with an ASD in any other dissection specialism especially within an interest in skin, urology and breast dissection.

Candidates with a DEP (or due to sit the exam in November ) would also be considered, as this is an opportunity for the right person to join our team of advanced specialist dissectors and develop your own career to an advanced level.

If you feel you fulfil any of the above criteria, we would be interested in hearing from you. Therefore we invite you to contact the department to discuss your application or any enquiries you may have.

Derby has been at the forefront of BMS dissection since 2005 and as such, has a long established and successful in house training and competency programme, pioneering extended biomedical scientist dissection and BMS reporting. You would be joining a team of friendly experienced expert and advanced dissectors who have all achieved the DEP in Histological dissection and some attaining the higher ASD qualification.

Main duties of the job

  • Dissection of A-E histological specimens within scope of practice
  • Leadership of at least one area of specialist dissection (e.g. breast) in conjunction with the Lead Consultant Histopathologist
