An exciting opportunity within the early interventions pathway for eating disorders.

We are looking for a Psychologist/CBT therapist to join our developing psychology lead MDT to support residents and families who are impacted by patterns of disordered eating.

As part of the transformation of Eating Disorder provision across East London Foundation Trust (ELFT) we are developing a FREED (First Episode Rapid Early Intervention for Eating Disorders) informed community hub. In this exciting post you will work within the small but growing ELFT FREED Hub and you will have an opportunity to shape and develop the implementation of early intervention support.

The post holder will primarily be involved in providing psychological interventions for people whose relationship with food, eating and body image is problematic for them or those who care about them, and/or people who have a diagnosis of an Eating Disorder. You will provide specialist psychological services (NICE informed) to adults across all sectors of care, providing psychological assessment, group work and psychoeducation workshops, and individual therapeutic interventions.

As there will be opportunities for further training and CPD, the role will be highly suitable for an experienced clinician as well as for a newly qualified clinician who has an interest in eating disorders.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder would be expected to work closely with experts-by-experience, local communities, Community and Voluntary and Social Enterprises, to co-produce and co-develop services. The post holder will primarily be involved in providing psychological interventions for people whose relationship with food, eating and body image is problematic for them or those who care about them, and/or people who have a diagnosis of an Eating Disorder.

Other key tasks will involve partnership working, liaising with various stakeholders in the system, e.g. GPs, primary and secondary care mental health services, colleges and universities, and the 3rd sector. The post-holder will also be involved in raising the awareness of the complexity of the health and social challenges many people face and the impact this has on mental health & well-being and vice versa. A key aim of the service is to help people build resilience and feel more connected to their community, and to instill a sense of belonging.

We sincerely welcome applications from people who have previous experience of using Mental Health services, and/or individuals who are/have been a carer for someone. We are also very interested in receiving application from people who have strong local connections to the 3 boroughs in which we work
