We are seeking a Band 7 Lead Paediatric Audiologist to join the Audiology team at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, providing a range and adult and childrens services, in modern and well equipped facilities.
Applicants must be qualified Audiologists with BSc in Audiology (or equivalent Audiology qualification) and should meet the requirement for registration, and have training/work experience in an NHS audiology service.
Good communication skills are essential.

To lead the Paediatric part of the Audiology Service across the whole of NWAFT (based across the two main sites of Peterborough City Hospital & Hinchingbrooke Hospital) for children and young people age 6 months to 17 years old.

Main duties of the job
Diagnostic Audiological Assessment -
To lead the Paediatric part of the Audiology Service across the whole of NWAFT (based across the two main sites of Peterborough City Hospital & Hinchingbrooke Hospital) for children and young people age 6 months to 17 years old.
- To lead two tester children's hearing assessment clinics.
- To select and perform audiological investigations to assess the child's hearing function, determining the nature and extent of the hearing disorder/disability. This will incorporate thorough history taking, otoscopy, pure tone audiometry, VRA, performance audiometry, tympanometry and speech testing.
- To carry out diagnostic electrophysiological testing in babies referred by the newborn hearing screening team. For example, performing tone-burst/Chirps, click, bone conduction and cochlea microphonic electrophysiological ABR, ASSR and OAEs testing.
- Provide counselling to patients and parents/carers regarding the nature and extent of any hearing loss, and the options on how this could be managed.
- Manage distressed or angry patients, parents / carers sensitively, especially when disclosing test results and management options.
- Provide audiological management to patients with significant co-morbidities, including mental health problems and learning difficulties.

- MSc in Audiological Science or equivalent OR MSc level of expertise in a specialist area of audiology with BSC in Audiology or equivalent qualification
- Registered as Clinical Scientist in Audiology (HCPC)
- STP, HTS in paediatrics, CAC, or equivalent experiential
- Advanced knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the ear and balance systems
- Competent and experienced in performing paediatric audiology assessments including history taking, performing age appropriate hearing tests (audiometry, performance testing, VRA, tympanometry, ABR, and OAEs), ear examination, debriefing the parent/carer and agreeing an individual management plan

- Attendance of the NHSP sharing the news
- Attendance of the Newborn ABR course or ARU Paediatric Audiological Assessment (newborns)
- Experience of UKAS accreditation for IQIPS
