Main duties of the job
Will be an autonomous, accountable practitioner responsible for a birth reflection clinic. These consultations will involve exploring with women and their supporters their experience of birth, reviewing the notes in partnership with them, addressing questions or concerns and providing appropriate follow-up and support as necessary. The Maternity unit deliver just under 5000 babies a year. We provide care for a diverse population across West Berkshire. Part of our maternity strategy is equity in access and outcomes tackling the multiple dimensions that affect local healthcare inequalities.
The unit comprises of a delivery suite, midwife led birth centre, postnatal and antenatal wards, outpatients and Maternity Assessment Unit. We have a very successful home birth service, specialist teams to support vulnerable women and continuity of care teams.
We have developed a 'seeking sanctuary ' service which is a multidisciplinary approach to providing care to pregnant women seeking sanctuary in the UK and their families. This service was presented as good practice in the NHS three year delivery plan.
We are strongly committed to developing our services and ensuring the those that work with us are given support and development opportunities.
