We're looking for a highly motivated individual with extensive acute sector experience to join us as our Head of Operational Performance. You'll bring an improvement mindset, a focus on solutions and exceptional leadership skills.

In return, we'll provide an incredibly rewarding role and the opportunity to make a real difference to patients, while working alongside some fantastic people. As one of the largest Trusts in the NHS, we can offer you a vibrant and diverse workplace, with extensive opportunities to further enhance your professional experience and develop your career.

Working within the Chief Operating Officer's portfolio, you'll be in a highly visible role, engaging on all aspects of performance improvement with our Hospital Senior Leadership Teams, as well as clinicians and senior managers across the Trust and the wider healthcare system. A good understanding of elective and diagnostics targets will be important, but more than this, you'll have a track record in motivating others and getting the best out of them.

Your role will be fast-paced and highly varied. Leading a central team, you'll ensure the organisation has effective processes in place for managing its waiting lists, as well as establishing effective performance assurance arrangements across our hospitals. You'll also be key to ensuring the delivery of high-quality training and support of our operational and clinical teams across the organisation.

We can't wait to meet you.

Main duties of the job

Lead on the delivery and monitoring of the core performance frameworks within the Trust, with a focus on achieving and sustaining national and local requirements in relation to access quality and performance.

Work closely with Hospital teams to support the delivery of the organisation's improvement priorities, taking autonomous decisions consistent with delivering sustainable performance and ensuring that planning processes are robust.

Support the establishment of policies and processes that ensure patients are regularly monitored, remain safe while on waiting lists and are clinically reviewed and expedited appropriately.

Act as key source of expertise for the interpretation of national guidance and provide expert advice to operational and clinical teams, including in relation to the Trust Access Policy and Access Protocol.

Provide leadership to the new pathway compliance team, undertaking regular audit, spot-checks and initiatives that underpin a rolling programme of improvement.

Work closely with operational teams to effectively plan capacity and take remedial action where necessary, ensuring there are robust systems in place to forecast performance and identify risks to delivery.

Identify and support the monitoring of performance indicators within the team, improving the transparency and scrutiny of delivery both within and outside, the department.
