We are seeking a dynamic and conscientious Echocardiographer to work at Barts Health NHS Trust. The successful candidate will work at the Barts Heart Centre, St Bartholomew's Hospital located in The City of London, with rotation to one of the other sites within the Trust network and contribute to the weekend working on a rotational basis. This role will provide the successful candidate with exposure to a variety of cardiac pathologies and clinical situations.
The department holds dual accreditation with both the British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) and European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI), so this is an exciting opportunity to develop your career as a competent Echocardiographer with opportunities to progress to training in advanced specialist areas.
We are looking for a fully accredited transthoracic Echocardiographer, independently performing and reporting to BSE standards or equivalent. Applicants must hold full accreditation with a recognised national/international body, have relevant experience at a senior cardiac physiologist level and be ready to embark on the next step of their career.
Furthermore, you will be supported to develop your leadership skills as you supervise and train staff in the performance of their individual roles and give support to senior staff members.
Main duties of the job
An experienced Band 7 Cardiac Physiologist/Highly Specialized Echocardiographer/Cardiac Scientist is required to work competently in a busy Echocardiography Department. The post-holder will be required to perform complex-level tasks and assist senior staff as needed. The post holder must be able to work at St Bartholomew's hospital and one of the network sites (Royal London, Newham University, Whipps Cross or UCL Hospitals). The post-holder will be required to work autonomously as a senior staff member within the echocardiography department, assisting senior staff with managerial tasks. In addition, the post-holder will be required to supervise, train, guide, and support staff in the performance of their roles and to provide support to senior staff members. The successful post holder will be expected to join the weekend rotation for inpatient cover.
