Paediatric Senior Staff Nurse - Band 6 To ensure the provision of high standards of holistic care for the group of patients within their sphere of responsibility. To act as the designated deputy for the Sister/Charge nurse. To act as the operational manager in their absence. To support the assessing and supervision of student nurses and preceptor newly qualified nurses

To ensure the provision of high standards of holistic care for the group of patients within their sphere of responsibility. To act as the designated deputy for the Sister/Charge nurse. To act as the operational manager in their absence. To support the assessing and supervision of student nurses and preceptor newly qualified nurses

Person Specification
Qualification and training
Essential
  • RSCN/RN Child Branch, with evidence of regular professional updating
  • Mentorship, ENB998 or equivalent
Desirable
  • Educated or working towards degree level
  • APLS/EPLS training
Educated or working towards degree level
Essential
  • Ability to work at an advanced practice level and confident and competent to make appropriate decisions
  • Competent in the administration of IV drugs.
  • Ability to be responsive/reactive and flexible.
  • Leadership and mentorship skills
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
  • Up to date knowledge of paediatric nursing and professional developments.
  • Good working knowledge of current child safeguarding issues
