It's an exciting time to join us at Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for a Band 6 Mental Health and Learning Disability Nurse to join us in our inpatient services and take on the role of Deputy Ward Manager.
We are looking for caring, empathetic, enthusiastic individuals who have a passion to improve the lives of our patients. This role will be to provide care and support to patients who require mental health interventions, guidance or monitoring.

Main duties of the job
We are seeking a confident individual who are keen to contribute to the delivery of high quality nursing care and service development. You should have a strong interest of working with patients with mental health needs and substantial experience of working in a challenging environment. You should have a high level of resilience and patience and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to demonstrate a warm, patient centred approach to care.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate effective leadership skills and engage in multi-disciplinary team working. You will be expected to facilitate and coordinate the delivery of a mental health service, taking a lead in, and supporting the ward teams with complex patient care, for those with mental health needs. You will have direct line management and supervision responsibilities providing support and leadership to junior staff whilst taking on the role of mentor/assessor as well as deputising for the ward manager as and when needed.

*The Bay £7k Welcome Bonus package applies to this role. The bonus is only available for people who are not currently employed (or who have not been employed in the last 12 months) by any NHS provider trust in the Lancashire & South Cumbria Integrated Care System in a like-for-like role e.g. a Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse at another Trust in the LSC ICS would not be eligible for the bonus if moving to a Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse role at LSCFT. Bank only workers for Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust are eligible for the scheme if they have not held a substantive role in Lancashire & South Cumbria Integrated Care System in the last 12 months (subject to all other terms and conditions being met). These incentives are subject to recovery clauses within the first 24 months of employment. This bonus is applicable to any successful candidate whose interview for this role is conducted prior to 30th June 2024.
