Provision of high quality podiatric care for patients with pathological foot conditions and those individuals at risk of developing serious foot health complications in a range of specialist podiatry clinics in nail surgery, MSK Podiatry and Diabetes in various geographical locations. Management of a domiciliary caseload is required.

Main duties of the job

You are required to have experiencewith extensivewound care management and a broad scope of podiatry practice. You may also be required to occasionally cover our satellite clinics.There will be supervision and mentoring from senior colleagues.You will also supervise band 5 podiatrists, podiatry assistants and students, promoting evidence-based practice and supporting decision making.

The goal of the service is to enable patients to make informed choices about how to manage their condition, so that they can stay as well as possible for as long as possible, and reduce their risk of diabetes-related complications. Patients are empowered to self-manage wherever possible.

This a full-time post, but applicants who are looking for part time hours or job shares will be considered.

The post will involve some travelling throughout Powys.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Job Summary/ Purpose:

Proactive Team Member to play an integral part of the podiatric team, actively contributing to the development of a modern podiatry service, delivering seamless care in primary, secondary and domiciliary settings through

Delivering of professional, high quality, safe and effective Podiatry care to designated caseload from the Powys Residents.

Managing a mixed caseload containing patients with a varied medical history, with co-morbidities and varied foot health status that require individualised evidenced based treatment plans.

Participating in patient education increasing patient engagement and ability to self-help through making every contact count and employing a motivational interviewing approach.

Leading on the provision of Nail Surgery service within a location.

Contributing to the development of the service in line with organisational and service specific objectives to meet the needs of Powys population.

Actively participating in the development of Podiatry Assistants through engagement with delivery, assessment and internal verification of accredited learning e.g. Agored Cymru units and Qualifications.

Actively engaging on clinical audit and Research activity within Podiatry Services and through working within multidisciplinary Teams.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge

Essential

  • BSc (Hons) in Podiatric Medicine or equivalent.
  • Additional Entitlement Prescription Only Medicines - Administration POM (A)
  • HCPC Registration


Desirable

  • Knowledge of clinical governance agenda
  • Additional Entitlement Prescription Only Medicines - Safe / Supply POM S
  • Member of Professional Body
  • Ability to speak Welsh


Experience

  • Significant experience within a Podiatry role
