We are looking for a motivated, Accredited, enthusiastic Clinical Coder to join our well established Clinical Coding Team. You will have passed the National Clinical Coding Qualification and so hold Accredited Clinical Coder status. You will need to demonstrate a high level of Clinical Coding skills across a range of specialties with the ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail whilst working under pressure to meet required deadlines.
As a Senior Clinical Coder, you will be expected to look at complex information and ensure accurate code assignment whilst maintaining national clinical coding standards. The information is essential to the National Tariff payment system that underpins Trust income. You will be required to liaise with Clinicians, service leads and other key Trust members to ensure accurate clinical information. You will assign clinical codes using ICD-10 and OPCS 4 Classifications ensuring adherence to National Standards and conventions, you must be able to prioritise your workload to meet the needs of the department and the Trust.
Main duties of the job
The majority of the Clinical Coding Team are home based, only attending site if they choose to work on site. There may be the odd requirement to attend site for a meeting, but this is not likely to happen often. The Team connects with each other via MS Teams, email, and phone. Clinicians are contacted in the same way.
Since working from home, the Clinical Coding department have put many things into place to ensure that the Team can still communicate with each other as they would of on site. It's extremely important to the Team to have one another for support to discuss complex coding queries and any other issues that could impact on the quality of coding if not discussed. Regular Team meetings, MS Teams Chats and virtual meetings are just a few of the ways the Team remain connected to each other. The Trust are extremely supportive of the Wellbeing of all their Staff and there is a Trust wide Wellbeing Team to offer support to all staff as and when necessary.
If you are able to work as an individual using your own initiative to plan your day, but equally want to be part of a supportive and well-connected team and have the required Accredited Clinical Coder Status then this could be the role for you.
