Based at The Royal Oldham Hospital, as one of our Estate Managers, you will manage a team within the Estates department.

With the opportunity to manage a range of works across the hospital site you will deliver improvements that provide a positive impact on operations affecting patient care.

While the job description does lean into M& E disciplines, if you have a broad range of experience within general buildings services and a solid understanding of UK compliance we are very keen to hear from you.

While we are not restricting our search to candidates within the NHS (National Health Service), a background in healthcare would be advantageous. What is key for us, is an individual with a passion for delivering excellence with great communication skills and experience successfully managing a team.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide electrical, engineering and building services leadership.
  • Responsible for dealing with all Estate emergencies and for the activation and escalation of the Trust estates emergency plan.
  • Take the role of Authorised Person across specific building, electrical and engineering services.
  • The efficient/effective management of professional estates trades staff.
  • Responsible for the efficient/effective management ofcontractors.
  • Required to havea comprehensive knowledge of estates services.
  • Understanding of building, mechanical and electrical engineering services.
  • Responsible for the interpretation and implementation of legislation and technical guidance.
  • Financial management.
  • Risk analysis.
  • Receive, interpret and disseminate complex and specialised information from outside agencies.
  • Responsibilities for organising team workload.
  • Provide technical advice to craftsmen and clients.
  • Participate in providing 24-hour emergency cover to the NCA.
  • Continually audit, develop, introduce and improve the systems and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and legible records in accordance with Group Policy.
  • Compliance mandatory training.
  • Ensure all estates records are accurately maintained.
  • Provide cover on other Group sites as required to support the estates department.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Professional/academic qualification at HNC/HND level
  • Evidence of continuing personal and professional development in EFM disciplines.


Desirable

  • Professional/academic qualification at degree level


Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience in a manager position, ideally in the estates and facilities management sector)
  • Evidence of successful projects/programmes of work within agreed constraints e.g. budgets, timescales.
  • Demonstrable track record in estates management/estates supervisory roles with ability to think and work across a range of activities
  • Experience of procurement through tendering.
  • Ability to work effectively and inclusively with a wide range of people.
  • Well-developed leadership and motivational skills.
  • Ability to achieve demanding tasks and objectives against deadlines.
  • Performance Management and development of staff.


Desirable

  • Evidence of Commitment to Continuing Professional Development.
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of the operation of NHS Organisations.
