We deliver transformational models of forensic, physical and mental healthcare into police custody suites. Police Custody Healthcare professionals play a pivotal role assisting the criminal justice system.
We believe we can make a real difference to those with vulnerabilities and healthcare needs whilst being able to support the police by obtaining evidential samples. We care for some of the most vulnerable people in society who are taken into custody suites. Operating with independence and autonomy, your actions can be lifesaving when you consider the physical and mental challenges of people who often have a high dependency on drugs and alcohol and exhibit difficult behaviours.
Maintaining detailed and accurate records to ensure the health, safety and welfare of detained persons held in police custody is paramount.
Main duties of the job
You may be requested to obtain forensic samples and assessments for fitness to be detained/ interviewed in a community setting which may include hospitals and patient homes etc.

- Conducting clinical assessments to identify if patients are fit to be detained in custody.
- Continued provision of care identified during assessment including the management of long-Term Conditions, Minor illness and injuries and Emergency treatment.
- Mental health and substance misuse assessments and management.
- Forensic sampling including road traffic offence bloods.
- Providing substance misuse therapies whilst in custody Referrals and sign posting to support wider vulnerabilities.
- Collaborative working, onward referrals and sign posting to external agencies.
