An exciting opportunity for a Service Manager position has become available within the Integrated Medicine Directorate, working cross site covering Stoke Mandeville, Wycombe and Amersham Hospitals.

We are seeking to recruit a dynamic, ambitious, and talented individual to this post. You will have line management, budgetary and performance responsibilities. You will lead on service improvement projects to raise quality and drive productivity while maintaining operational delivery. Outstanding communication and organisational skills are essential. Experience in working within a healthcare setting will be beneficial. This is a challenging and fast paced operational role but represents an exciting opportunity for the right candidate. The role represents an ideal opportunity for the post holder to further their skills and progress their career into a senior management role.

Main duties of the job

  • As a Service Manager within the Integrated Medicine Directorate, you will provide operational and strategic support to the Division with a high focus on transforming services, recruitment and support for medical staff, and service developments.
  • You will work closely with the General Managers to achieve activity targets against national requirements as well as supporting the delivery of new challenges within the Dermatology, Diabetes and Endocrine teams. You will have involvement in financial performance and service improvement plans across the Directorate and work closely with the clinicians and administration teams to promote high quality patient experience throughout.
  • As a highly motivated manager with proven experience, you will need to display strong leadership qualities and have a proven track record of delivering high performance across the areas you have managed.

Person Specification

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

Essential

  • Education and training to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Recognised leadership and/or management qualification or equivalent`
  • Postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience


EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • Experience of relevant NHS & KNOWLEDGE operational management
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal/written) - including demonstrable experience of writing quality reports.
  • Staff management experience
  • Able to analyse and interpret complex information
  • Evidence of delivering on objectives
  • Detailed knowledge of the 18 week target, and demonstrable experience in the achievement of this
  • Ability to work and plan the strategic direction of a service
  • Project Management Experience
  • Ability to cope with large workloads, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Confident, assertive and approachable


Desirable

  • Experience of successfully managing a budget
  • Experience of rota management
  • Up-to-date knowledge of NHS policy

  • Willing to travel between sites and throughout Bucks, as required by the post
