The post holder will be provide leadership and oversight of Psychology provision within North (0.2 WTE) and South Camden (0.6 WTE) Community Team and will hold a senior position within the team amongst the Clinical Team Manager, other discipline leads and the Consultant Psychiatrist.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will lead and manage the psychology discipline, attending to line management, clinical supervision and manage the psychology waiting list.

The post holder will hold a highly complex caseload and develop and formulate specialised programmes of care for service users that are outcome focused and evidence based.

You will communicate complex information in a highly skilled and sensitive manner to members of the multidisciplinary team, care partners and service users, who may on occasion, present with challenging behaviours.

The post holder will maintain a high standard of clinical records, preparing reports for internal use and for external agencies, maintaining good communications with referrers and other professionals involved.

You may be required to convene multi-professional and multi-agency meetings, liaising with outside agencies and professionals and will act as the lead on liaison work and cross-sector partnership working such as GPs / schools/local authorities.

The post holder will act as lead for safeguarding and risk management in the team as appropriate.

You will lead on the quality, safety and continuous improvement of services provided to service users and their families.

You will act as a positive role model and participate in the education, development and mentorship of other staff.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Masters level qualification as a minimum or equivalent in clinical area of practice - Counselling, Clinical Psychology, Educational Psychology
  • Core training as a Psychologist, acquired to acquired to postgraduate doctoral degree level or equivalent level of knowledge
  • Registration with appropriate professional body - HCPC
  • Evidence of further specialist training in psychological treatments
  • Postgraduate clinical or management qualification e.g. CYP, IAPT, Masters in Systemic Practice or equivalent


Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience of working with client population.
  • Strong track record of managing complexity and risk whilst maintaining high standards of service delivery
  • Experience of working within a specialist psychological therapist service High level of expertise in managing and treating the client group with complex mental presentations
  • Experience of working to deliver service delivery targets
  • Experience of assessment and treatment of the full range of presenting problems in the client population
  • Experience of contributing to or working on Quality Improvement initiatives


Skills

Essential

  • Skills for assessing and communicating highly complex client conditions and applying appropriate clinical treatments
  • Clinical Psychologists: Proven significant experience of conducting psychometric tests, interviews and observations when assessing clients
  • Ability to manage own clinical caseload and provide oversight of others within the team
  • Willingness to contribute to development of service through financial initiatives and income generation
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office), basic keyboard skills for writing reports, clinical case notes
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to gain and sustain credibility with clinicians/managers
  • Personal duty of care in relation to equipment used in clinical practice


Knowledge

Essential

  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgement and use of own initiative
  • Knowledge and awareness of NHS access targets and data requirements
  • High level of skill and knowledge in safeguarding and risk management
  • Understanding health and safety, risk management, modernisation, and clinical governance
  • Familiarity with recent political trends in health care
  • Able to demonstrate ways of working with multidisciplinary teams with positive outcomes
  • Ability to formulate high quality and comprehensive treatment plans
