Consultant Psychiatrist Inpatient in General Adult Psychiatry - North Devon

The role

This role is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established MDT on Moorland View Ward – a 16 bedded mixed gender acute psychiatric ward, North Devon District Hospital in Barnstaple.

Moorland View Ward forms part of the Urgent and Inpatient Care system in North Devon – working with the Home Treatment Team, 4 alternative to admission beds, and an intensive inpatient rehabilitation ward to create a locally flexible response for the most mentally unwell residents of North Devon. Close working relationships exist with supportive colleagues in Psychiatric Liaison, AMHP service and adjacent wards for older persons and rehabilitation.

We would love to hear from you if you are an enthusiastic and forward thinking consultant willing to take a leading clinical role in our inpatient mental health services and a developing cross agency, cross team response to the changing mental health needs of the population.

The location

Moorland View ward is on the North Devon District Hospital, Barnstaple, North Devon. This beautiful part of Devon has close access to beaches, the moors and easy access to Exeter, Bristol via improving road and rail links.

About us

The ward is 16 bedded, mixed gender. All bedrooms are en-suite. The ward encircles a garden and has office space, MDT office space, music room, dining room and patient kitchen.

Facilities adjacent include seclusion, long term segregation area (ensuite bedroom, lounge, and enclosed garden), additional garden space, arts room, Occupational Therapy kitchen and gym.
