An exciting opportunity for an experienced, dynamic and forward-thinking Lead Practitioner has arisen within Women's and Children's theatres at Royal Derby Hospital.

Women's and Children's theatres is a multi speciality area covering Gynaecology, Breast, Obstetric, and Paediatric surgery. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Gynaecology and Breast theatres. You will work closely with the other Lead practitioners for the department , and will support each other to manage the Women's and Children's theatre suite as one unit.

Candidates must have previous management and theatre team leading experience with strong team building and communication skills.

Main duties of the job

To co-ordinate, organise and take responsibility and accountability for the management and organisation of the W& C Theatre service, this involves managing a wide range of complex and sometimes conflicting priorities including staff management.

To be a professional and clinical role model, leading and coordinating theatres, in conjunction with the Theatre Matron, and working closely with the multidisciplinary team.

Able to practice clinically within theatres.

Provide specialist clinical advice to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients/ clients and relatives/ carers in collaboration with the multi professional team.

Deliver clinical leadership through effective monitoring and implementation of standards and evidence based practice.

  • Demonstrable experience as a Team leader experience (band 6) within Theatres
  • Specialist Knowledge in multiple specialities including obstetrics and gynaecology.
