The Children and Young People's Division are looking to recruit a Service Manager for the Children's Outpatient department, Surgical, General medical admission, and two paediatric and adolescent wards

The postholder will be responsible for the oversight and management of Outpatient activity correspondence to patient room utilisation. Ensuring all admission are correctly coded, Providing support with the Paediatric (Paediatric Target List) PTL is validated every week and the EPIC reports and work queues are reviewed daily. Support ward flow coordinator with improvements and implement any Epic upgrades.

This vacancy has been advertised in accordance with the new NHS pay rate which will take effect from autumn 2024. Please note if your employment starts before the 24/25 pay scales are implemented you will be paid under the 23/24 pay scales and any backpay will be adjusted accordingly. Main duties of the job

The postholder will act as line manager for 3 Band 4 administrators, 5 Band 3 receptionist and admissions assistant

The postholder will be responsible for leading improvements across these areas, including implementing new processes in the outpatient's department and wards.

Person Specification

Knowledge & Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, including Grade C or higher in English
  • Experience of using a range of computerised software


Desirable

  • Data analyst / data science qualification
  • Understanding of medical terminology


Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable knowledge of administrative procedures at a high level of competence acquired through both training and experience
  • Proven experience of working in an office environment
  • Previous NHS or healthcare experience
  • Previous practical experience of using databases ie. Access/Excel


Desirable

  • Working knowledge of a statistical package such as SPSS or STATA
  • Minimum of 2 years data management/audit experience

Essential

  • Able to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks.
  • Able to deal with the public in person and on the phone
  • Understands importance of maintaining confidentiality
