Surrey Downs Health & Care
Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist looking for an exciting and rewarding role? Join our dynamic and forward-thinking team as a Static Occupational Therapist at Epsom Hospital as we continue to excel in delivering integrated Stroke and Neuro services. We are a well-established unit with a large Stroke ward and offer coverage for Neuro outliers, making this an excellent opportunity to grow and develop within a supportive environment.
As part of the Stroke and Neuro Occupational Therapy team, you will work within a multidisciplinary team alongside the Medical Team, Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Dietetics, Psychology, and Specialist Nursing, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient-centred care.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for assessing, planning treatment, and delivering interventions for referred patients, handling a mixed caseload of individuals with stroke and neurological conditions requiring neuro-therapy.
The successful candidate will work closely with a stroke specialist multidisciplinary team (MDT) to provide and facilitate appropriate holistic management, rehabilitation, and advice to patients, their families, and carers. This role will involve collaboration with multidisciplinary ward teams and discharge coordinators to identify and facilitate appropriate discharge plans from the hospital, including ongoing referrals to specialist and local services when necessary.
As an integral part of the neurology team, the post holder will be supported by a Band 7 clinician, who will provide guidance and assistance. Additionally, the post holder will be responsible for supervising junior staff, technicians, assistants, and students as appropriate. They will also be expected to participate in the development and monitoring of service standards to assist in the smooth running of day-to-day operations.

Surrey Downs Health and Care has a track record of providing person centred care that goes beyond organisational boundaries to do what is best for the individual. This partnership includes:

Historically, there have been boundary lines between the organisations that provide care to people in their homes, in GP surgeries and in hospitals, but we have always been united in our mission to provide great care to the people who need us.
It's on those grounds that the Surrey Downs Health and Care was formed - we want local people to receive the care that they need in the right environment. By bringing together our expertise, we can improve patient care and enable local people to access the right support, care and treatment more easily than ever before.
In bringing this partnership together, we are working to the same set of values that will translate into better care for our residents.
