Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust currently has an exciting opportunity to support NHS operational services as Service Head of Finance. Working closely with the Associate Director of Finance, you will provide high quality leadership to the Finance Department and will lead a section of the financial management function.

What We Are Looking For

Experience in financial management within a large organisation

CCAB Qualified

Line management experience, with the ability to develop and lead a team

Detailed understanding of budget monitoring, reporting and

forecasting

Ability to challenge operational managers to provide best value for money whilst upholding patient safety and maximising the quality of care

This is intended to be a full-time post working 37.5 hours per week, however flexible working and job-shares will be considered.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide support to the Associate Director of Finance in providing high quality leadership to the Finance Department within the Trust. The post holder will lead a section of the financial management function of the finance department.

The post holder will have an advanced understanding of the Trust's business and be able to manage a high quality finance provision.

The post holder will be a member of the Finance Leadership team, supporting the delivery of key objectives across the team, leading on recruitment, and having a senior presence across the organisation.

The post holder will lead on core financial management services to a group of service lines, developing a high-quality business partnering relationship, with strong and highly effective relationships between finance and operational managers.

Ensuring the service lines have an excellent understanding and take ownership of their financial performance.

Encouraging and influencing cost-effective decision-making using highly developed persuasion, motivation, and negotiation skills.

The post holder will utilise benchmarking analysis, promoting best practice to identify and deliver improvements and efficiencies.

Education / Qualifications and Relevant Experience

Essential

  • Qualified and member of an accountancy body which is a member of the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (CCAB) or CIMA.
  • Highly experienced at working as a senior NHS strategic financial manager with extensive experience in the field
  • Experience of collaborative planning/working with other statutory, voluntary or private sector organisations


Skills and Aptitude

Essential

  • Advanced Keyboard skills requiring speed and accuracy in preparation and use of spreadsheets, policies, guidance and communication with units and external bodies
  • Highly developed negotiating and influencing skills
  • The post holder must be able to manipulate large quantities of data with specialist software develop ways of distilling that information efficiently and on a systematic basis
  • Excellent presentational skills and ability to create presentations suitable for their audience
