An exciting opportunity has arisen for an aspiring individual to join our experienced, highly skilled Vascular Team as Lead Vascular Nurse

The successful candidate will display excellent leadership and communication skills and be able to confidently liaise with all partners to ensure the safe, timely care of our patients.

Our vascular nurse specialist team cover a variety of demands including outpatient clinics, inpatient support, wound review clinics and AAA nurse assessment clinics to name just a few.

Main duties of the job

The role will require you to:

Lead specialist nursing care, maintaining and developing a quality service, including managing the team's business plan, progress and reporting risk and issue management and autonomously take overall responsibility for the care of a caseload of patients

Develop and provide specialist training across functional boundaries as required and to develop and implement an educational programme for new members of the CNP team

Maintain a management system to ensure information is properly managed and best practice is shared across the Vascular Care Team.

Lead in relevant internal and external working groups/projects services and initiatives to provide, information and analytical advice and expertise

Present information and explain highly complex issues to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, where understanding of the topic is sometimes limited.

Liaise with other team leaders to share best practice

Prescribe and review medications (as an independent prescriber) for therapeutic effectiveness appropriate to patient need, and in accordance with best/evidence based practice and local and national policies, and within the role's scope of practice and legal frameworks

Integrate both pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment in patient care/management plans.

Training and Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc in Nursing or similar health specialism or working/committed to completing degree.
  • Non-Medical Prescriber qualification or working /committed to completing


Desirable

  • MSc in Nursing
  • Accredited Modules in Vascular care


Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 5 years working in Vascular specialty at Band 6 or above
  • Leadership experience
  • Experience in day-to-day management role such as rostering staff, wellbeing management etc.


Desirable

  • Quality improvement, implementing change
  • LEO Course or equivalent


Communication and Relationship Skills

Essential

  • Basic computer skills
  • Experience of communication within a Multi-Disciplinary Team
  • Experience of breaking bad news


Desirable

  • Advanced Communication Course


Analytical and Judgement Skills

Essential

  • Demonstrate an ability to prioritise own workload, recognise and respond appropriately to urgent situations
  • Demonstrate an ability to delegate appropriate tasks to other colleagues.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current issues relating to the NHS policies
  • Experience of clinical decision making, for example nurse led discharge


Desirable

  • Experience of data collection and analysis
  • Experience of using the NVR system
  • Experience in change management/delivering change across functional boundaries


Planning and Organisation Skills

Essential

  • Excellent time keeping and time management.
  • Post holder will be expected to work 80% of the time in the clinical setting.


Physical Skills

Essential

  • Fit and able to manage a patient workload across both campuses of NUH, Nottingham Treatment Centre and neighbouring Hospitals


Other requirements specific to the role (e.g., be able to work shifts/on call)

Essential

  • Must be able to drive so as to provide outreach service to neighbouring Hospitals (SFH).
  • Post holder must be able to work 5 days a week
