An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our recovery team in cardiac and neuro theatres.

The successful applicant will be joining a small and friendly team , who are providing an excellent care to post operative adults and children patients who underwent neuro, cardiac , thoracic , general, renal & urology , ENT & max-fax or gyne procedures.

We are looking for someone with either recovery or neuro ward/neuro ITU experience who are keen to enhance their skills and to support the 24hrs post anaesthetic care we provide in our theatres .
  • The applicant must be able to provide expert, evidence based care to our patients, you will be required to support patients in the post operative environment.
  • You will be expected to supervise and mentor junior members of staff/ new starters.
  • The applicant must be motivated and enthusiastic with a passion for providing high quality care to patients at all times.
  • The applicant must be committed to keep our focus of giving Outstanding Care Every Time to our patients.
Main duties of the job
  • Provide an excellent nursing care , be responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating patient care.
  • Prepare a safe recovery environment for each shift , ensuring all necessary stock , medication and emergency equipment are available
  • Supervise junior members of the team ensuring a a positive learning environment enhancing high standards of care.
  • In the absence of a senior recovery practitioner take charge of a recovery ensuring the smooth running of the day.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
Essential
  • Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner.
Desirable
  • A minimum of 12 months post registration experience.
  • Previous recovery/ITU experience or neuro ward experience
  • A critical care course ( recovery/ITU)
Organisational Management
Essential
  • Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care according to individual needs.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise workload and patient care needs.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of managing resources.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of clinical risk.
Desirable
  • Computer literate.
  • Ability to take charge of the ward, in the absence of the Ward Manager on a regular basis.
Education and Research
Essential
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the importance of research and evidence based practice.
  • Able to explain the principles of mentoring and assessing junior staff.
  • Understands the importance of developing self and others.
Desirable
  • Demonstrates an understanding of an audit.
  • Ability to take on a small research or audit project.
General and Personal
Essential
