An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Paediatric Dietitian to work with our team of Paediatric Dietitians and assistants to deliver the dietetic service to the children and young people on our caseload. The service is provided in a variety of settings including community hospital clinics, special schools, child development centre and patients own homes.
Your caseload will be varied and include allergy, autism, nutrition support and enteral feeding. As part of your role, you will have the opportunity to develop your clinical leadership skills you will provide supervision to the Band 6 Dietitians, Dietetic Assistant Practitioners and Dietetic Assistants and undertake project work to help to develop the service. You will regularly be required to travel therefore, access to a car for work purposes is essential.
You will need excellent communication skills to establish and maintain close working relationships with all relevant healthcare professionals and associated organisations to ensure multidisciplinary care that is of a high standard.
In addition to this you will have the opportunity to plan and deliver training to other professionals from a variety of backgrounds e.g. health, education, and social services.
Main duties of the job
Be responsible for a caseload of children with complex feeding difficulties
Be responsible for a caseload of children on home enteral feeding, including those living in East Staffordshire.
Use expert knowledge and experience to educate and support patients and their carers regarding their dietary management at home.
Provide a dietetic service to children and their parents/carers attending out patients in a variety of settings including health centres, community hospitals, Special Schools and own home.
On occasion provide cover outpatient clinics for other members of the team as necessary. Locations are varied, a flexible approach is essential.
Provide supervision and support the Band 6 Dietitians, dietetic assistant practitioner and dietetic assistants.

- oApproved Dietetic Degree
- oRegistered with Health Professionals Council, working with the HCPC Code of Conduct
- oEvidence of successful completion of specialist short courses up to Masters degree or equivalent

- oEvidence of attending BDA Paediatric Course - modules 1 and 2 or relevant clinical experience.
- oEvidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio including attendance at recent postgraduate courses relevant to Paediatric Dietetics

- oDemonstrate experience and knowledge in problem solving e.g. problems with feeding tubes, feeding pumps
- oDemonstrate experience and knowledge of resolving some of the more common patient related problems with enteral feeding e.g. gut motility, drug nutrient interactions.
