This is a fixed term post covering a vacant SpR role, working primarily in the inpatient and day patient eating disorder services. The post holder will work alongside a Consultant Psychiatrist in Eating Disorders who is Clinical Director of the service and has an established national reputation in the field. The post is also supported by a Core Trainee in Psychiatry, an FY2 doctor and a specialist MDT. The post provides an opportunity to develop knowledge, skills and experience in the assessment and management of eating disorders across the full spectrum of diagnoses and severity, and the in delivery of specialist psychological therapies for eating disorders.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide day to day psychiatric and medical assessment and management of adults with eating disorders receiving care in the inpatient and day patient services. Leadership of MDT risk assessment and management is central to the role. They will lead the weekly management rounds alongside senior MDT colleagues, and contribute to the weekly ward round. The post holder will contribute to MHA work, including the preparation of reports, with supervision from the Consultant. They will also contribute to outpatient work, giving experience of the full spectrum of eating disorder presentations, and the broad range of treatment modalities available.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Detailed clerking, history taking and initiation of all necessary investigations and assessments for patients. Establishing, initiating and evaluating treatment plans and risk assessments in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team and under the supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist. The post holder will complete full risk assessments of all in-patients and day patients in conjunction with the MDT. Medical and psychiatric management for patients. Interviewing relatives and informal carers of patients as required. Undertaking the relevant referrals to other disciplines and services both within the multi-disciplinary team as well as to services and resources external to the service Observation of Trust and local policies and procedures; including those related to medicines management and physical healthcare. Observation of medical guidelines, prescription and drug administration and paramedical guidelines issued to the postholder. Completion of admission and discharge summaries for inpatients and day patients. Preparation and presentation of medico-legal reports, including those for Managers hearings and Medial Health Review Tribunals for in-patients and day patients. Answering routine correspondence within a week. The post-holder will liaise with all external agencies as required. To contribute to clinical outcome evaluation within the service Provide cover for psychiatry colleagues within the service. The ST4-6/specialty doctor will also be expected to provide some cover for Consultant leave, with appropriate Consultant and Responsible Clinician cover arrangements for support. The post holder is expected to provide some clinical supervisory support for the Core and Foundation Trainee, although formal weekly Clinical Supervision will be provided by the Consultant Psychiatrist.
ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES
Participation in the weekly Academic Programme in Psychiatry at St Charles Hospital, and more recently, virtual, due to Pandemic regulations. Participation in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training of staff. Complete audit and Quality Improvement Projects in accordance with Service Line and CNWL NHS FT protocol. Participate in research projects as appropriate.

- Primary Medical Degree Full GMC Registration
- GMC Licence to Practise
- MRCPsych (or equivalent)
- Section 12 MHA Approved
- Minimum 2-years psychiatry, paediatrics or medical practice at SHO level.
- An additional post graduate qualification of relevance to (own specialty)
